Active holidays
Most holidays, over 20 percent, in 2017 where filled with walking, hiking, biking and water-or winter sports. The Dutch like being active and to adapt nature while doing so.
Beach holidays
Another big group loves to spend their holidays relaxing on the beach, and book a holiday near the beach. Over 18% percent planned a beach holiday in a foreign country next to 7% of who stayed near a beach in Holland.
City Trips
Next to enjoying nature, Dutch tourist love to explore foreign cities. In 2017 over 14 percent of the total holidays were spent in a city.
Family
Next to relaxing and exploring new things is being together with friends or family also an important reason for the Dutch to go on a holiday. Almost 18% percent of the touristic holidays are spent with family or friends.
Working
Who thinks that holidays are only for relaxing is wrong. The Dutch don’t spend their holidays only with recreational activities. In 2017 over 56 percent of the Dutch tourists spent some time on working during their holiday.
