The Dutch opt for a foreign destination during this year’s spring break. According to Belvilla, 72% of the holiday homes are located abroad. Bookings for spring break are up 119% compared to last year’s spring break.
A remarkable fact is that last year 95% of bookings went to a destination in the Netherlands. This year it’s only 28% of bookings.
A lot of Dutch didn’t go on a winter sports holiday last year and are very much looking forward to going this year. That brings us to another interesting research. The Leiden University Medical Center and Eurocross have conducted research into skiing accidents, which resulted in exceptional results.
Although it is nothing new that the Dutch have their chatter on the slopes, research confirms that a shocking 90% of Dutch men overestimate their skiing skills. Women are a bit more modest, but still 64% think they are more advanced than they are. This year it may be worse than ever as the physical preparation is limited because of the closure of gyms and fewer ways to keep up with regular exercise.
