Bookings in August this year approached the level of 2019
Figures from the ANVR*-GfK Booking Monitor show that the bookings in August this year approached the level of 2019 in that month. Bookings are 72% above the level of 2020 and only 14% below the level of 2019.
The ANVR* emphasizes that there are a lot of last-minute bookings. The underlying figures show that more than 80% book before departure within three months. In 2019 this was slightly more than 70%. The share of Europe remains – due to the travel advice from the government – sky-high at 91%.
Within Europe, Spain is growing strongly and even exceeds the 2019 figures (by 6%). Italy (+31%), Belgium (+27%), Greece (+11%) and Denmark (+27%) are also recovering above the 2019 figures.
Croatia returned to the 2019 level in August after the dramatic drop in 2020. The big laggard is still UK/Ireland. According to the ANVR, this is mainly due to the quarantine measures that were still in force for the UK this month.
